It’s Friday. I was in the mood for doing a blog just for fun – no SEO or affiliate links. Just a fun blog on something most people love – PIZZA! Last night, Mike and I were feeling like the last thing we wanted to do was cook so I hopped on a local Facebook group to find the best pizza in town (this wasn’t my first time doing this). It was delicious and got me thinking… wow we’ve had pizza in a lot of different places… are we pizza conosoirs? Probably not, but here are our favorite pizza places in random towns throughout our travels just in case you’re curious:
That’s right… we prefer Fly Bye to the famous Pizzeria Bianco (don’t tell local Phoenicians…). We enjoy most Fox Concept restaurants, but Fly Bye is one of a kind because it started during the pandemic as a way to pump out food without the need of dining in. This pizza is heavy and thick. One or two slices will fill you up, but it’s just so hard to resist the third because of the delicious flavor combinations. Our go-to options are the Copper Hat and Spicy Hawaiian.

In an unexpected twist, we head to Mexico for our next favorite pizza place. We first heard about Pane e Vino as part of a list of best happy hour deals in town from our friend, Debbie aka Fleecetrain, who had been exploring the best food deals in the area. On Wednesdays, they have half price pizza and live music – that was all we needed to hear! This wood-fired pizza is delicious, the wine is good, and the views are truly amazing since it’s located at the highest point in town. Don’t miss out on Pane e Vino if you’re visiting Puerto Peñasco during the weekdays!
We love visiting Ruidoso and have been going there for years, but we haven’t quite found a restaurant that calls to us. Most of the food is heavy bar food, so we ended up eating out less and less (share your light Ruidoso options in the comments please!). On our last day in Ruidoso, I went to the DMV for hours and decided to take a walk downtown to embrace our last day of mountain air. I followed my nose to Cafe Rio Pizza where they sell pizza by the pie or slice. After finishing my slice in under a minute, I called Mike to tell him we were having pizza tonight! The Margherita pizza was delicious and the perfect meal on our last night.
Fratelli’s is the pizza place that inspired this blog. It seems like locals were between NiMarco’s and Fratelli… but more people were pumping up Fratelli so we went with that and we’re so glad we did! We had wings, pesto cheesy bread, Margherita pizza, and the Flagstaff pizza (of course). Their small size is perfect for trying multiple flavors even if there are only two of you. Mike never likes breadsticks or cheesy bread, but he absolutely loved the pesto cheesy bread! Their pesto really was the star of the show.
I’m not saying it’s the best pizza in Chicago, but they do say that they are on their website… Nothing was better than having my first slice of Chicago-style pizza after a full day of live music at Lollapalooza. On the way from the festival to the hotel, Giordano’s had ready-made personal cheese pizzas lined up for festival-goers to grab ‘n go after a long day. It was thick, warm, filling, and perfect for a late night munchie in Millenium Park. And since it’s a chain, you can enjoy it across the US!
6. New York Pizzeria in New York New York in Las Vegas, Nevada
We’ve stayed in New York New York plenty of times in Las Vegas and one of the main reasons is the pizza place! I know that sounds like an odd reason, but having access to their huge garlic knots until 2 am in Vegas is affordable and delicious. I swear this Pizzeria has been the reason I kept going while having some crazy weekends in Vegas. Plus, it’s our nod to New York pizza on this list.
Ok we couldn’t write this blog without including the best pizza we’ve had in our entire lives… in Rome! We stopped by for a quick break after a day of exploring the city and found ourselves at the cutest little cafe where the wine was flowing, the pizza was fresh, and the limoncello hit you unexpectedly. The pizza and wine were so good that we kept ordering more. The servers thought it was so funny that we couldn’t leave, so they gave us extra food and wine and limoncello on the house. And everything was pretty affordable! When we go back to Rome, Jazz Cafe will be on our list of must-visit spots.
Now, I’m not claiming these are the best pizza places in the whole world (don’t come at me, New York), but these are places that made each visit more memorable and enjoyable. They have consistently good pizza that warms the soul and makes for an easy night of food. Maybe this list will save you some Google research in the future! Follow and subscribe for more full time travel and remote income content. Or just go and enjoy a delicious piece of pizza tonight. Either one will make us happy 🙂
