Planning and Preparation for The Eras Tour
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Europe dates about half way through as of July… and although we’re sad her European era is coming to an end, we’re excited to have all the details you need to plan and prepare for your upcoming show.
How to get Eras Tour Tickets in Europe:
Registration for tickets and the original sale of tickets is long gone for Eras Tour dates. However, it’s still possible to snag some last-minute tickets to her European shows. There are a couple ways to do this:
- If you pre-registered, check your inbox each day for a week or so before the show
After Taylor’s team builds out her stage and assesses the capacity at the stadium, they release last-minute tickets for The Eras Tour. Some of these tickets are obstructed view, some are VIP box seats… it really depends on the stadium. If you took part in verified fan presale registration over a year ago, you may receive a code in your inbox that allows you first dibs on these extra tickets. These go quickly and often have specific URLs in your email to grant you access to purchase so check a few times a day and join Facebook pages specific to your show to stay up to date on the timing of these codes.
These ticket drops are similar to the process in the US, which you can read more about here. Each stadium is a little different so just keep that in mind as you read!
- Buy tickets from 3rd party ticket resellers
Ok… so we don’t actually recommend doing this. Scalping in the EU is illegal and most other European countries outside of the EU have strict scalping laws as well. Will you go to jail because you bought a 3rd part ticket to The Eras Tour? No, but your ticket may be invalid.
On top of that, there is NO guarantee that your ticket is valid because you purchased through a site that claims they guarantee valid tickets. What they often guarantee is that your ticket is valid or you’ll get a refund. We’ve found about 10% of people that purchased through StubHub end up with invalid or no tickets, resulting in them traveling to the show and not being able to get in.
Do they get a refund of their ticket? Yes… but is it devastating to get all pumped for your show, wait in line, and then not get in? YES!
This has actually happened to us for another high demand show, and it sucked. Read more about our StubHub negative experience. Or watch our TikTok if you’re a video kind of person:
That all being said, if it is your only opportunity to get tickets, we understand. Check out our article for Eras Tour tips to avoid scams when buying tickets.
- Buy last-minute ticket releases from the original seller
Depending on demand, Taylor Swift also releases last-minute tickets that DO NOT REQUIRE A CODE! This is the best situation for scoring some tickets to The Eras Tour when you are already in that city. So, if you really really want to see her in a certain city, just go there. These tickets are often released on the same day of the show or the day before.
If you don’t get tickets, don’t worry! The Tay-gating experience (watching Taylor outside of the stadium) can be just as fun as the show itself.
- Purchase tickets directly from a ticket holder
This option is the easiest way to get scammed. However, it is often the cheapest way to get tickets when buying from the original seller isn’t an option for you. If you purchase from someone you do not know (or someone you don’t know really well), make sure to research lead booker policies for your stadium and always use PayPal Goods & Services to protect your purchase.
What is the lead booker policy for Taylor Swift?
Many European Eras Tour shows have a lead booker policy that states that you must enter the stadium with the person whose name is associated with the purchased tickets.
When someone purchases tickets to a show, the tickets are delivered to their account digitally under their name. Most stadiums reserve the right to check IDs when entering to ensure that the name on the ticket matches at least one person of your group entering the stadium. These policies are intended to reduce scalping.
Although most stadiums have removed lead booker policies right before the show or have chosen not to enforce them, some have been checking IDs. For example, Amsterdam upheld their lead booker policy and required Swifties to go to a customer service desk to get special approval for using tickets that aren’t in their name. Not all concert-goers’ IDs were checked, but many were.
If you are buying directly from a fan to fan platform provided by the original ticket broker, this won’t be a problem. They transfer the tickets to your name and account. If you buy from 3rd parties, stay on top of lead booker policies and be aware you may need additional information from the seller like a copy of their ID.
Packing for The Eras Tour & planning your outfit:
For anyone experiencing anxiety about planning their Eras Tour outfits: do what makes you most comfortable!!
You can dress up or down as much as you want. The most important thing is that your outfit is functional and comfortable for an all day experience of dancing, walking, and standing.
If you are coming from the US/Canada with less walkable cities, you will likely walk more during The Eras Tour than you’re used to because of the way European cities are set up. You’re going to be taking public transportation and potentially walking on uneven cobblestones or up hills. Choose comfortable shoes that can last through the night without causing you pain.
Swifties wear all sorts of outfits – from a simple T-shirt and shorts to full ball gowns. There is no wrong way to dress for The Eras Tour as long as you follow stadium rules like no components that obstruct others’ views.
If you want to make friendship bracelets to exchange, you should get the beads and string ahead of time because availability in the city you travel to will likely be limited during the show. Plus, it’s super fun to make bracelets leading up to the show as a way to get excited!
We have an Amazon list with some basics for making bracelets, fun glasses, and hearing protection. For more details on what to bring, head to our YouTube which goes into much more detail about items to bring and how to prepare for the weather.
It’s also ok if you don’t have time to make bracelets! Life happens and they take a long time to make. I personally give out bracelets to Swifties all the time that don’t have any without expecting an exchange – it’s just to have fun! So chances are you’ll get one at the show as a memento anyway.
We brought about 20 bracelets each night, and we also brough custom stickers to hand out as an alternative. We make these Eras Tour stickers through our other business, Live Music Threads, to give to Swifties as a fun and different way to trade! Reach out to us if you’d like to make some custom stickers with your city name and date to hand out at your upcoming show (or as a unique souvenir).
Taylor Swift GA Floor Experience
The Eras Tour in Europe has a GA floor / standing only section for Taylor Swift’s show. That means that there are no assigned seats and you’re expected to stand during the entire show. Many people we’ve spoken to have anxiety about the crowds, toilet breaks, and views of Taylor… so this section is to help you get EXCITED for the floor instead of dreading it.
Benefits of floor tickets for Taylor Swift:
- Closest view of Taylor Swift possible
There is no ticket type that is closer to Taylor Swift than a floor ticket. The closest tickets with seats are still really really far from Taylor. If you have a floor ticket, you have the potential to be right next to her, seeing every strand of hair and facial expression she makes as she performs.
The floor is divided into three sections: front left, front right, and back. Part 1 of our Floor Experience series shares views from the different sections so you can see just how close you can get:
- Choose your neighbors
If you don’t like the vibe of people next to you, you can move when you have a floor ticket. Or… if you love the people you’re next to, you can stay all night and make amazing friends around you! The point is… you get to choose who you experience the concert with. My husband and I ended up making a solo Swiftie friend in line for N1 of Lisboa, and we all stuck together throughout the entire show and our way home.
We had such a great time together that I invited her to come to N2 with me and she invited me to go to Madrid with her! That’s how we ended up at 3 Eras Tour shows together after meeting as strangers in line. A true Swiftie moment!
With seated tickets, you are stuck in one spot with whoever is assigned next to you. This can be amazing or not so great depending on your seat buddies.
- Space to dance
The closer you are to the stage, the more dense the crowd will be. If you want to dance your heart out and have room to do so, you’ll have plenty of space towards the back of the floor / standing only area. The seats at most stadiums are pretty small, so you are limited in how dramatic your dancing can be during The Eras Tour.
Now that you know some of the perks for the floor experience, here some FAQs of the European Eras Tour Floor Experience:
Is VIP separated from GA floor for The Eras Tour?
No, VIP and GA floor tickets are all in the same area. VIP ticket holders receive a merch box and first entry to the show, but they are not roped off or segregated from non-VIP ticket holders.
This has been a big point of confusion for Swifties, especially when looking to buy different ticket options on the resale market. As a VIP ticket holder, you will be in a separate line than GA because you enter earlier than GA. This means you will likely get a spot on the rail / barricade of your floor section (or have only one or two people in front of you). This also means that if you leave your spot during Taylor Swift, you won’t be able to return.
We explain more about the VIP process in our Eras Tour Tips Floor Experience video series. and… we specifically share tips for toilet breaks in Part 2:
Should I bring my child to Taylor Swift with floor tickets?
It depends; many stadiums have age limitations for floor, so you will need to research your specific show’s policies. If they are allowed, then YES! It is so fun for mini Swifties!
Whatever you do, check all age limitations for your stadium before showing up to the show. We know a handful of US parents that didn’t realize there would be age restrictions and flew all the way to Europe just to discover their child wasn’t allowed in the show.
If your stadium allows kids, only you can make the final decision on whether or not to bring them. You know your child best and their stamina. Please bring hearing protection for your kids if you bring them. The Eras Tour is one of the loudest shows, ranking at over 90db with crowd noise alone (before Taylor starts!). To help you make a choice on bringing your mini Swifite, watch our chapter on tips for kids at The Eras Tour here:

This was so detailed, so helpful, and so kind. This will be my first “big” floor show and I want to maximize the experience but not kill myself. You confirmed a lot of my thoughts on how I would approach the show. I have VIP for the back section and I think I will go in during the VIP window, try to be close through Fearless so I can have a little “up close” time, and then likely move back to be able to have more freedom.
Taylor Palmer
That sounds like a great plan and I hope you have an amazing time at the show! Honestly, being around so many happy Swifties at once is a really fun experience itself. Fearless and TTPD is where I felt I had the best views from the back floor section 🙂
