Traveling as a vegan in Portugal is not the easiest task. With less than 2% of Portuguese being vegetarian, this is a very meat and seafood-forward cuisine. But, restaurant options are quickly changing to be more inclusive of vegan, vegetarian, and specialty dietary restrictions. That’s especially true for Lagos – a smaller beach town with over 400 restaurants and bars and plenty of vegan options!
If you’re coming for a visit and looking for some vegan restaurants in Lagos, Portugal, this article in our Best of Lagos series shares our favorite vegan restaurants around town.

1. Kisa
Kisa is an Italian restaurant in the heart of old town Lagos. With indoor and outdoor seating options, the vibes here are great for a date night or a group outing. They have vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian options, which makes this place great for all foodies. Plus, the staff is super kind and accommodating.
Kisa is closed in the winters starting in November, so this recommendation is for the summer and shoulder season travelers.
2. Estúdio Vegetariano
Tucked right into the heart of Old Town, Estúdio Vegetariano is a completely vegetarian haven serving up fresh, exquisite food sourced from local ingredients. The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming, making it perfect for a slow, relaxed dinner or a date night. We recommend making a reservation if you want to guarantee a table. Vegan and vegetarian options are available.

4. All Things Dough
All Things Dough is a local pastelaria that specializes in pastries that accommodate dietary restrictions, including vegan options.
5. Sunray’s Kitchen
Sunray’s focuses on locally produced foods with a fresh menu. Perfect for breakfast and lunch. They are closed in the winters, typically starting at the end of November.
6. The Seasonal
The Seasonal focuses on modern Asian food with local ingredients. My favorite menu item is their mango tofu. Not all of their dishes are vegan and vegetarian, but they have a solid menu of options for both.
7. Abigail’s
Abigail’s is one of the biggest cafés in Lagos with vegan and gluten free options in addition to their specialty coffees. This is one of the places where you can always find an iced coffee (not always an easy task in Europe).
8. Artesão
Vegan options are available along with spectacular views of the Lagos marina. We enjoy Artesão for their fresh and healthy dishes that work for all types of foodies.
9. Cafe Goldig
Cafe Goldig is a small cafe offering plant based brunch, and organic coffee.
10. The Curry Leaf
The Curry Leaf is a modern Indian restaurant with full flavor menu items with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.
11. Everyday People
Everyday People keeps on making all of our lists, including our favorite specialty cafés in Lagos, best dog-friendly spots, and a place to work remotely if you need a change of scenery. Now, we’re also adding it to the best vegan restaurants in Lagos list!
Everyday People has sweet potato or cauliflower baguettes as vegan options and vegan sweets as well.
