So… it’s your first time heading to Country Thunder Arizona 2025? Or maybe you’re returning and just want a quick refresh with tips on how to have the best experience yet?
Either way, this post is for you.
We’ve rounded up the 5 best Country Thunder Arizona tips for first timers, all based on over a decade of firsthand experience. Whether you’re camping, glamping, RVing, or just showing up for the music, these tried-and-true tips will help you survive—and thrive—at one of the most iconic country music festivals.
Our Country Thunder Backstory
We’ve been going to Country Thunder Arizona since 2013, which marked our 3rd week of dating. In what shocked most of our family members, Mike even proposed during Eric Church’s set while we stood in the dust of GA. Ten years later, we’ve attended 1,000+ concerts and festivals together – from The Eras Tour to Coachella, yet Country Thunder Arizona will always hold a special place in our hearts.
On top of that we’re avid campers and RVers, especially after doing full time van life for 3+ years while attending even more concerts and festivals. These are the tips we wish we knew as first timers at Country Thunder. And now, we’re sharing them with you!

Top 5 Country Thunder Arizona Tips (First-Timer Approved)
1. It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint
It’s tempting to go hard the first night, especially if you arrive Wednesday before the music starts. But trust us: Country Thunder is a four-day ride. Don’t burn out before your favorite headliner hits the stage. Pace yourself and pick one “go wild” day if that’s your vibe.
🛒 Pro Tip: Pack hydration packets, electrolyte powder, and anti-hangover supplements from our Amazon Country Thunder list—you’ll thank yourself later.
2. Pack for Every Season of Country Thunder Arizona
April in Arizona can go either way—95° and sunny or cold and muddy. Sometimes, you get both in one weekend.
Country Thunder Arizona packing must-haves:
- Breathable daytime clothes
- Cozy nighttime layers
- Waterproof boots or sandals
- Rain poncho just in case
- Something for dust (bandana, face mask)
- Hats for sun and cute fits

3. Explore the Campgrounds
Don’t stay stuck at your site! Some of the best Country Thunder memories happen while walking the campgrounds. Legacy camps like Skallywags go all out—pirate ships, stripper poles, DJ booths, and more.
The wildest parties usually happen Friday and Saturday. Walk around during the day to scope things out—and party hop at night.

We’ve scored:
- Free T-shirts
- Lineup lanyards (great for autographs)
- Energy drinks

- Even on-stage passes (seriously!)
👀 Pro tip: Head to vendor booths early in the day before things get picked over and sign up for your chances to win meet & greets as well as backstage or on-stage passes. Set an alarm in your phone to give you time to return to the drawing since most of the time you have to be there in person to win!
5. Don’t Skip the Openers
Everyone wants to party at the campsite—but the early sets and side stages are where the magic happens. You’ll get way closer to the stage (maybe even sneak into the KONA or NUTRL section…) and you’ll likely discover your next favorite artist.
Artists we’ve seen early on that blew us away as opening acts:
- Chris Janson
- Old Dominion
- Lukas Nelson
- Abby Anderson
- Dallas Smith
🎵 Pro tip: The Copperhead Stage is also a hidden gem – go support these rising stars and enjoy late night music too!
