Innings Fest in Tempe is a unique combination of baseball and music. Put on by the same people as Lollapalooza, this festival should be on your list. It’s a fun, relaxed festival, but there are a few things you should know before attending. Here are our top 6 Innings Fest tips to help boost your experience.
1. Bring a single-pouch hydration pouch like CamelBak
Innings Fest has a pretty relaxed bag policy compared to most festivals, so take advantage! It is a perfect, sunny day today and you’ll want water as you walk between the stages. There are two hydration refill stations – one near the entrance and one on the way to the Right Field stage.
2. Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen and a hat
There isn’t a cloud in sight today. Several people came up to us asking to use some sunscreen, and we saw many people sporting nice red sunburn lines two hours into the festival. Putting sunscreen on just once won’t be enough – bring it so that you can reapply throughout the day!
3. Take the Valley Metro Rail before ordering a rideshare home
There isn’t an organized rideshare area like most festivals, so getting picked up at the end of the night was a total mess. Metro Rail passes are only $2/person for a one-way pass. We took the Metro Rail west to Priest & Washington and ordered a Lyft from there. It was faster than if we had waited at the festival. You can also take it east to Mill Ave. if you want to keep the party going!
4. The shortest alcohol lines are at the Sierra Nevada tent
Alcohol lines were pretty short throughout the first half of the festival, but they got long quickly! Sierra Nevada, Milagro, Corona, and Titos all have tents at the festival where they sell alcohol. If the bar lines are too long, check out one of these tents. Sierra Nevada always had the shortest lines and the cheapest prices. Plus, they offer temporary tattoos of the lineup!
Expect to pay $8-22 /drink!
5. Prepare to have bad allergies
Tempe Beach Park has dry grass right now. With thousands of people walking around through the grass and a slight breeze, prepare to have bad allergies. Take a non-drowsy allergy medication beforehand and bring any medications you think you’ll need (inhaler, nasal spray, etc.).
We highly recommend bringing a face mask to avoid breathing in dust and grass. We used these at night mostly, and they helped a ton!
6. Bring a blanket
Our final Innings Fest Tip is for your comfort! Not all festivals allow blankets, but Innings Fest does! Many people used blankets to sit on throughout the festival. The grass is very dry right now, so it’s not comfortable to sit on right now. A beach blanket makes the music-listening experience even better! We love our packable Matador blanket.
Bonus tip for Verizon customers:
Go into your Verizon account and enroll in Verizon Up for an exclusive stage experience. There is a blocked off area for Verizon Up members on the Right Field stage that has free bottled water. You’ll also get a fast lane for the merch tent!
